The Claudius D. Walker Award for Excellence is Service given to Jacqueline D. Byrd

In May 2012, Jacqueline D. Byrd, Bowie Blade-News Senior Moments Columnist, received the Claudius D. Walker Award for Excellence in Service from the Prince Goerge’s County Advisory Committee on Aging.  The Award, which was given “in recognition of outstanding service to the seniors of Prince George’s County” was given during the 40th annual Retired Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at Martin’s Camelot. The Claudius D. Walker Award was created in 2008 by the Prince George’s County Advisory Committee on Aging in memory of Committee member Claudius D. Walker who died in March, 2007.  The award is given in recognition of his “untiring volunteer service and his life devotion to improving the lives of Prince George’s County residents.”
