Byrd & Byrd is proud to announce a $1,443,898.16 verdict in a major elder fraud case under the newly enacted Maryland Statute Against Financial Exploitation (SAFE Act ) in Circuit Court for Prince George’s County. Byrd & Byrd trial attorneys Timothy Leahy and Michael Clancy successfully fought for an elderly man with dementia, whose own family members were stealing and committing fraud against him. This victory reinforces our commitment to protecting vulnerable seniors from financial exploitation and abuse.  In addition, the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County verdict ordered the defendants to pay all our client ‘s legal fees  which is a unique provision of Maryland Statute Against Financial Exploitation.
